Apr 26

The sales funnel is a fundamental part of traditional marketing and business for many years. Recently however, it appears that funnels are getting discussed everywhere online.

Many people want to know more about the marketing concept and how it can be utilized to enhance their online marketing efforts. Read on to find out more about the sales funnel and how it can be used to efficient Internet marketing.

The Sales Funnel: What exactly is it?

A marketing funnel doesn't actually refer to a funnel. The use of the word "funnel" for this marketing concept is simply to help visualize and explain a sales process from the beginning to the end. Since it has a broad opening for customers who are "Unqualified prospects" on the top, and an even smaller opening for converted sales at the bottom the funnel can be a precise comparison.

We may call these "unqualified prospects" at the top or entry of the funnel. They are people who might need your services or products, but have not been approached by you prior to. There will be a lot of opportunities and sales in the future, and you'll also have customers who've purchased your product/service.

The effectiveness of the lead generation funnel is from the fact that it permits you to monitor the potential prospects' actions during different stages of the lengthy sales process. With the sales funnel by figuring out the quantity of prospects who are qualified at each point of the process, it's possible to anticipate the number of potential customers that will, after a while, become actual customers.

A sales funnel will help you see where your sales process is failing or successful or if your marketing campaign is not getting enough customers. This will help you decide the best place to focus your efforts to ensure that sales are on the right level and to meet the marketing objectives. It is used to monitor and control the customers sales process.

The Front- End or Sales Funnel The top

The top of your sales funnel is going to be the most active part of your sales funnel and will require the most constant testing. Your imagination and resources will only limit the number of front-end strategies that you could develop.

The main goal of the front- end is to draw potential customers in and turn them into buyers later in the sales process.

The prospective client becomes "qualified" once they opt-in or sign up for something you provide. This is the moment when the prospective customer or "Unqualified Lead" becomes qualified. This is because they have taken an action that indicates that they might be interested in buying your product or services.

Your front-end should be able to drive specific traffic to your website or blog. The most effective methods and resources for doing this include article marketing, PPC adverts, social media (Google+, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube) banners, blogging, forum posting as well as content marketing.

There are a variety of ways to "qualify" an "unqualified potential customer. A squeeze page is among the most efficient ways to "qualify" the prospects who are not qualified. It allows you to offer something of value, related to your product or service, which customers can get for free or at a greatly reduced cost in exchange for their email address. Products included include newsletters, videos ebooks, email courses, eBooks, and other related reports.

So we see that the front-end of the sales funnel is the place where people are drawn into your sale funnel. But what about the back end?

The Bottom of The Funnel: The Back-End

The back-end or bottom of the funnel where the major profit and sales are generated. This area usually includes the most costly products. Basically these would be appropriate to the same market however they are delivered in different formats, such as audio, video live interaction, or private consult.

The main difference between front and back-ends is in the type of client and the price of the product/service being provided.

While it's true that just one percent, or 1-2% of the total number of people entering into your front - end, will be in the back-end. This is because a select few people will spend a larger amount of funds.

It is clear that although front-end services or products can be priced under $100, back-end products and services are typically priced between the 100s and 1000s. This means that the bottom of the sales channel, also called the back-end is the primary source of income.

As I mentioned earlier, the sales funnel is customizable as much as your creativity and resources allow.
